We have many problems – poverty, unemployment, environmental destruction, climate change, financial instability, etc. – but only one solution for everything, namely economic growth. Herman Daly is professor emeritus at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy. He is the author of numerous books, including Steady-State Economics, Beyond Growth, and For the Common Good (with theologian John Cobb, Jr.). Among the awards he has received are the Right Livelihood Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Council for Science and the Environment.
