DIY Workshop Toolkit
The DIY Workshop is a do-it-yourself tool for activists and others who want to kick-start effective global-to-local action in their community.
The workshop uses Local Futures’ award winning documentary film, ‘The Economics of Happiness‘, as a springboard to discuss the impacts of the global economic economy and localization as a strategy for real systemic change.
The toolkit is available in English and Italian, and includes: a detailed workshop guide, a DVD of The Economics of Happiness film, specially designed templates, and additional visual and written materials relating to the global to local debate.
During the day-long workshop participants are guided through a reflective process that culminates in the elaboration of a personal Global to Local action plan, centered around a two-pronged approach of Resistance and Renewal. Resistance to the corporate economy and Renewal on a local level, with people and planet in mind.
From time to time Local Futures is hosting free online tutorials to learn about how to organize a DIY Workshop.
Watch a video of Helena Norberg-Hodge, founder of Local Futures, during one of our workshops in the UK. In this 30 minute presentation she summarises what she perceives to be the challenges that we face and offers some solutions to them.
