Maya Pedal is a Guatemalan NGO that uses donated bicycles to build a variety of pedal-powered machines (bicimaquinas in Spanish) for household and small farm use. The advantages of bicimaquinas are many, as Maya Pedal Points out: “They are easy and enjoyable to use. They can be built using locally available materials and can be easily adapted to suit the needs of local people.
