Conference

Economics of Happiness Conference

On October 2nd 2016, the 8th International Economics of Happiness Conference took place at the beautiful Teatro Verdi in the heart of Florence, Italy.

The conference was hosted in collaboration with Mani Tese, a renowned Italian NGO focused on social justice, non-violence and sustainability.

The day-long public conference was held on the International Day of Non-Violence. It is the latest in an ongoing series of Economics of Happiness conferences, which have so far been hosted in Australia, India, South Korea and the USA. These conferences are not only inspiring and an antidote to anger and despair, but provide practical and strategic tools for action.

The conference was an opportunity to join with others from the growing global-to-local movement, and to learn more about the strategies required to move away from a destructive corporate-driven economy, towards diverse local economies in service of people and planet.

The main aims of the conference were to deepen an informed debate about the global economy, to introduce key strategies for systemic change, and to explore and inspire positive action on a local level.

For a detailed report of the conference from our Project Coordinator Alex Jensen, read here.
