We are happy to announce our third annual conference in Jeonju, part of the Jeonju government’s ongoing commitment to the global-to-local shift. In addition to voices from South Korea, the conference will include several international speakers, including Gwendolyn Hallsmith, Anja Lyngbaek and Simon Richardson.
Five Star Festival: Rimini, Italy

Helena Norberg Hodge will give a 15-minute presentation to Italy’s Five Star Movement during their three-day festival, which will be held in Rimini, Italy from 22-24 September. Helena will speak on 23 September. The festival is open not only to those who believe that participatory democracy can change Italy for the better, but also to those who are not yet convinced that ‘together we can do it’.

Screening and Q&A of the film The Economics of Happiness: London, UK
September 25th, 2017
Helena Norberg-Hodge, award winning author and filmmaker, will introduce the film, and after the screening there will be a conversation between Helena and author and anthropologist Jason Hickel – identifying the systemic root causes of our interconnected crises, and key strategic shifts that can help us move towards a new economy.

October 12th – 14th, 2017
This three-day event will feature a number of prominent thinkers and activists, including:

The schedule will include plenary sessions, panel discussions, and workshops, on themes related to the economy, spirituality, political action, and more, with ample opportunities to enjoy meditation, music, dance, art and local food.

October 20th – 21st, 2017
This conference, in collaboration with Community Solutions, will focus on localization initiatives, indigenous cultures, and community rights, and will include plenaries, workshops, keynotes, and a Saturday evening performance by the World House Choir.

Economics of Happiness World Forum: Tokyo, Japan
November 11th – 12th, 2017
This event is focused on strengthening existing movements and forging alliances for a fundamental shift in society towards human and ecological wellbeing. It will provide a big-picture framework that unites those concerned with the outer/political and those focused on the inner/spiritual.
Local Futures is collaborating with a large number of Japanese organizations for this event. The Coordinator is our close colleague and IAL member, Professor Keibo Oiwa, who has the support of his University, Meiji Gakuin.
