Join Local Futures
in Ladakh in the summer of 2017
This summer, consider participating in our Learning from Ladakh Program. This is one of the many activities that Local Futures/ISEC has been running in Ladakh over the past 40 years. You’ll gain a deep understanding of the root causes of today’s global crises and develop effective strategies to promote an economics of happiness.
More information about Local Futures’ 2017 Learning From Ladakh Program will be posted here soon.

We are looking for volunteers to help with our 2017 summer programs in Ladakh from mid-June to mid-September. Volunteers need to cover their expenses and should commit to staying for one month or longer. Volunteers live together as a small community in the village of Sankar, about 25 minutes’ walk from the centre of Leh.
Volunteers help with the following tasks, and more:
- Publicizing and running our film screenings, discussions/workshops (including making and distributing posters and reaching out to travel agencies, tour groups, and hotels to offer special screenings).
- Supporting the Ladakhi organizations that we work with, including the Women’s Alliance of Ladakh, the Ladakh Ecological Development Group, and village groups.
- General clean-up, building repairs and gardening.
